Charles Ten Broeke Goodspeed (1869-1949) was the eldest son of Thomas Wakefield Goodspeed, one of the founders of the University of Chicago. He received his B.A. from Denison University in 1890, after which he briefly attended the University of Chicago. In 1893, he was awarded a law degree by the Chicago College of Law (Lake Forest University) and was admitted to the Illinois Bar that same year.
